Blog by the Virgin Mum – Nic Winslade Going from 1 to 2 kids in 2 words?
I thought 3:30pm-itis was bad back when I was working full-time. But afternoons with a new-born and a toddler are the new ‘hangover’.
The afternoon is a culmination of pent up angst, accumulated rage due to most things going differently to expected. And for the toddler, well, he’s just housebound, bored, and I just don’t have the handsfree time to get down on his level and play like I used to.
Anyway, this is why I am loving the trampoline. The afternoon mood manager.
I spend hours getting Blair to go to sleep for 5 minutes it seems. I spend half of that time trying to tell Marlo to be quiet, because ‘then we can play’. And when* she is finally down (*if!), I have to fill it with the most energised, intense and enthusiastic fun I can muster. He’s earned it, the poor little mate. I honestly do feel sorry for him a lot these days, it’s not what it used to be. I know, I know, mum guilt. But that is why I am SO grateful for the trampoline from Springfree. We climb up, even for the few minutes B’s asleep, and it’s enough to shake off all the angst. It has magical powers to curb any sass or tantrum the toddler has mustered too.
He lights up at the offer of “do you want to go on the tramp with mummy”, it’s like Lotto to him, and I love that I can so easily engage and entertain him without any hassle or preparation at all. His happiness, paired with some vitamin D and fresh air, it’s like a reset button for me too, and I come back inside eager to see the little girl I only just got to sleep.
Springfree are superior obviously. We all know they’re the best looking, best quality and the only safest. But what makes them so special is that they saw a family like mine and wanted to help us. Springfree have removed the main injury concerns, so we can literally let loose, there’s no “be careful’s” It’s just me and him, being kids.
It’s so special.
