Fresh Fruit Popsicles: A Tasty Backyard Treat!

There’s nothing more refreshing than a popsicle on a hot summer day. Instead of buying sugary popsicles from the grocery store, why not make your own at home using fresh fruits and juices?! The fruit chunks look awesome once the popsicles are frozen while also tasting really fresh.

Tools:

popsicle mould

cutting board

knife

Ingredients:

1 kiwi

¼ cup blackberries

¼ cup cut strawberries

¼ cup cut grapes

white grape juice

Directions:

Grab a cutting board and chop the kiwi, strawberries and grapes into a desired size for your popsicle mould. Layer the chopped fruit and blackberries into the mould – make sure some of the fruit pieces lay against the sides so that your popsicles have a cool & fruity effect once they’re frozen! Finally, pour white grape juice into each popsicle mould, insert the plastic mould stick, and put your popsicles in the freezer.

And of course, enjoy your popsicles outside with friends, family and your Springfree. :)

Springfree Trampoline attempts to break Guinness World Record.

Meet Jason Burnett, our Canadian Springfree ambassador who is a proud olympic athlete and has competed in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games for trampolining. On his Springfree Trampoline, Jason Burnett is eighth on the world leader board for the most seat drops in one minute.

A seat drop is by no means an easy feat! By definition, a seat drop is: from the standing-up position, the performer must land in a flat sitting position, with the hands being placed on the mat beside the hips and from that position returning to the standing up one by propelling him/herself with the hands.

The record for the most seat drops on a trampoline in a minute was set at 49 by Oleksander Nakonechny from the Ukraine in September, 2010. People from all over the world have attempted to beat the challenge, and the record currently stands at 51 seat drops in one minute!

Did you know:

  • The record for the most consecutive somersaults on a trampoline is 3333, and was set by Brian Hudson from the United Kingdom in 2003
  • The most trampoline front flips in one minute is 33
  • Set in 2012, the most one-legged jumps on a trampoline is 1003 and was set by Jared Baker
  • The fastest time to dress in formal attire while jumping on a trampoline is 45.03 seconds!

We are all about innovation and safety at Springfree Trampoline, so what will your record be? Start a challenge.

It's official. Springfree Trampoline is still the innovator.

"Springfree™ Trampoline is jumping for joy over today’s announcement that its innovative new model has been awarded a Good Design Australia gong and is now a finalist in the 2013 Australian International Design Awards."

The new model, known as Springfree™ Trampoline M18, is a novel crossover product that combines all the award-winning signature design elements that have made its Springfree Trampoline ‘big cousins’ the leaders in the trampoline market.

At a compact 160cm x 116cm and with its mat surface low to the ground, the M18 can be cleverly used inside the home or outside. Add the snap-on enclosure and the M18 is a safe and fun indoor trampoline for children. Take the enclosure off and the M18 provides the perfect rebound platform for use by adults in gyms and fitness centres or at home. Its compact size also allows the M18 to be utilised by physiotherapists, other medical specialists and professional sports trainers as an unstable surface for rehabilitation exercises and other coaching.

“Springfree Trampoline is really excited to see the M18 named one of Australia’s best sport and leisure designs this year,” Springfree Trampoline spokesperson Jonathan Collins said.

“This announcement caps off a particularly special time for our business. We were recently named by the independent watchdog organisation CONSUMER and its Australian counterpart CHOICE as the only safe and recommended trampoline out of the 17 Australian and New Zealand brands tested and we are also celebrating our 10th anniversary as a global business this year.”

Mr Collins said the Springfree Trampoline team was constantly looking for ways to make exercise safer and recognised a need for innovation in the area of rebounders.

“The M18’s large rectangular mat makes available a huge number of options previously not possible on old-style rebounders. The patent-pending ‘flatbar’ technology allows for a range of different configurations and by utilising the patented SoftEdge technology developed by Springfree Trampoline, there is no risk of feet being trapped in springs, the whole generous surface area is utilised, and the bounce is silent.”

It’s been 10 years since the world of trampolining was revolutionised by a New Zealand father of three who simply wanted to make sure his children were safe while they enjoyed a backyard bounce. That dad, Dr Keith Alexander (a Professor of Mechanical Engineering to boot), set off on what would become a 15-year research project into trampoline injury prevention. At the end of the project in 2003, the original Springfree™ Trampoline was unveiled. It was the first in the world to be literally ‘spring free’.

Many of the design features that made the M18 stand out to judges were the same features that, for the past decade, have made Springfree Trampoline the preferred choice among parents seeking the highest quality and utmost safety for their children: no springs or hard frame at the jumping surface, no risk of falls to the ground and no risk of falls onto rigid enclosure poles.

The M18 is currently available for sale in Asia and will be launched in New Zealand in June and available in Australia early 2014.

Presented by Good Design Australia, the Australian International Design Awards are one of the longest standing and most prestigious design awards in the world. Category winners and Australia’s highest design honour – Design Award of the Year – will be announced in Sydney on May 30.

Proud to be the only trampoline to be CHOICE Recommended

CHOICE logoDid you know Springfree™ Trampoline R54 Compact Round was the only trampoline to pass major safety tests conducted by Consumer Watchdog CHOICE?

That’s right! Springfree Trampoline R54 Compact Round was the only model out the 12 models tested to pass rigid safety tests carried out by People’s Watchdog CHOICE in January this year. Springfree Trampoline was designed by Dr Keith Alexander a regular Dad that set out to create a trampoline safe enough for his own children to play on.

After more than 15 years of injury prevention research this Dad that started out in his own backyard has now brought on a passionate and dedicated team that has continued his mission to keep kids safe in the backyard. The Springfree Trampoline team has been working tirelessly since 2003 to educate Australian parents that there is a safe trampoline option on the market and CHOICE has confirmed just that.

CHOICE is the number one advocate of consumer rights in Australia and the test was conducted by an external laboratory that tested the trampolines for safety risks, ease of assembly and jumping performance. Springfree Trampoline R54 Compact Round was found to be the safest of all the trampolines reviewed and the only trampoline that CHOICE recommends. Here is why:

  • It was the only trampoline to fully pass the shock test. (Of the 11 that are not recommended, not only did they fail the shock test but they also posed potential strangulation and/or limb entrapment hazards between the enclosure net and bed and/or frame).
  • After more than 20 drops Springfree Trampoline showed no deterioration in shock attenuation performance
  • Well-made product with high quality components and manufacturing tolerances
  • Most comfortable bounce
  • The design of the enclosure net system reduced the likelihood of potential limb entrapment and elimination of potential strangulation hazard.

Embrace Your Inner Child on a Springfree Trampoline!

In this day and age it is almost expected of us to be constantly multi-tasking and on the go; filling up our schedules with more and more errands and goals that we want to achieve. It’s as if society has created this misconception that “busy” is a status symbol. The busier you are, the more important you must be, and it shows that you have aspirations and control over your life. But is this really the case?

The ever increasing mountain of work that we set for ourselves in our lives and the 38 hours of jobs that we try to squeeze into a 24 hour period is making us forget about a healthy balanced life filled with laughing, love and relaxation. Are we ever going to climb to the peak of that mountain we set for ourselves and enjoy the view from the top, or should we be stopping along the climb up and taking in the view from different angles?

When is the last time you stopped and took a moment for yourself; just to even turn off all the distractions in your life and feel relaxed and carefree? Remember when you were a kid and all the stresses and worries of adult life were not even a thought in your mind? The time is now, to feel empowered and have some “me” time!

Jump onto your Springfree Trampoline and take 10 minutes out of your day to be young and carefree again! Be a kid at heart and just have a laugh! That Springfree Trampoline in your backyard is more than just a kid’s backyard toy, it is your sanctuary from this busy world.

That mountain is still going to be there after 10 minutes and won’t have crumbled around you. Be proud to say out loud “I’ve done something for myself today!” and realise that there is more to life than being busy.

Share your pictures of being young at heart on Instragram #kidatheart #springfreetrampoline , we’d love to see your cheeky inner child!

Fat Mum Slim has also written a blog about her view of this busy world that you might want to read!

Is your child a trampolining star of the future? Join us at the PCYC Launceston GymSports FunDAY!

Kids that get enjoyment out of their backyard trampolines, should consider the idea of jumping onboard trampolining as a serious sport. Just ask Jack Penny, our Springfree Ambassador!

He was king of the family’s backyard trampoline once. Now he is a professional trampolinist and accredited coach with Gymnastics Australia. Raised in Launceston and still in Tasmania; the trampoline has taken him all around the world.

Jack said he clearly remembers his first backyard trampoline (the traditional spring-based variety, sans-safety net). “I remember attempting my first ever forward somersault on it,” he said. “I landed it but was bounced off and right toward the big glass windows of our kitchen. I don’t have to tell you how horrified Mum was!”

With some 10,000-16,000 Australian children visiting an emergency ward annually after a trampoline mishap, Jack said any family considering a trampoline purchase should select the safest option for their children. He cited a recent Choice report that recommended only one trampoline brand (out of 12 trampolines tested for safety) – Springfree™ Trampoline.

The report showed the Springfree™ Trampoline’s R54 Compact Round model offered the most comfortable bounce which, as Jack says, will help keep your potential world champion trampolinist bouncing and training for longer. Jack encouraged backyard trampoline enthusiasts to take the leap into professional training at their local gymnastics club.

To see if your children would like to give trampolining a go, the PCYC Launceston is holding their Gymsports FunDAY on Saturday 23rd February from 10-3pm. You’ll be able to meet Jack in person and talk to him about what trampolining is like as a professional sport, grab some handy hints on moves and get tips on what the safest practice is for training on your trampoline at home.

Come and see us on the day to see Jack demonstrate his exhilarating moves on a Springfree and enter the draw for your chance to WIN the S113 Large Square Springfree Trampoline that Jack is performing on!
